Network Engineer

Our client a publicly traded company transitioning from a diversified REIT into a pure multifamily REIT and expanding from the DC metropolitan area into Southeastern markets.   We’re growing for sure!

This individual will be responsible for all design and configuration of employee, guest, and resident networks at all locations, will manage network systems to allow secure employee connectivity and oversee initiatives that provide new and/or enhanced technical service offerings. Design networks with security, data privacy, end-user functionality, and business continuity in mind.

You are a good fit if you have had progressively more responsible roles designing and administering secure networks, systems and application architectures, have experience in Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Windows Server environments and are interesting in working with a great team and have a fundamental appreciation for outstanding customer service.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • NETWORK DESIGN AND CONFIGURATI0N 
    • Work with the IT Operations team members to design secure and functional network infrastructure using best practices.
    • Manage configuration of network switches, wireless access points, firewalls, and any other hardware/software serving data communications.
    • Provide residential properties with technology and networks to support property operations, resident amenities, and smart building technology.
  • SYSTEM MONITORING AND MAINTENANCE 
    • Serve as a point of escalation for any service desk tickets or network problems
    • Evaluate, implement, and maintain tools for monitoring network traffic and uptime of hardware or software for the company.
    • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability of networks and systems.
    • Monitor bandwidth utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
    • Minimize outages or any impact to employee and resident productivity by building in redundancy to network systems.
  • SECURITY
    • Work closely with IT security leads to design, implement and maintain networks with best practice security principles.
    • Implement data communications with principle of least privilege to protect company and resident information from threats.
    • Assist in any incident response process as it relates to network information.
    • Contribute knowledge and expertise to the overall cyber security posture of the company whenever possible.
  • PROJECTS
    • Provide network expertise in all phases of design, implementation, and testing of IT projects.
    • Help evaluate software, hardware and partnerships as it relates to company initiatives.
    • Work with vendors to ensure third party services are held to the proper level of service and security.
  • COMPLIANCE AND REPORTING
    • Understand compliance requirements and ensure conformance.
    • Provide regular system reports as requested for auditing reasons.
    • Work within established change control processes for any significant configuration changes or implementations.
    • Develop and maintain network topology documentation/diagrams.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in designing and administering secure networks, systems and application architectures
  • Experience in Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Windows Server environments
  • Advanced knowledge and troubleshooting experience with networks and desktop OS and applications, including experience with any of the following:
    • Palo Alto Firewalls; HPE/Aruba systems (Switches, WAPs, ClearPass)
    • Business continuity and disaster recovery technologies and methods
    • Automated testing tools and methodologies; knowledge of scripting languages, environments and best practices
    • Mobile application and device management
    • Single sign on and identity management tools and techniques
    • Client hardware to include: Desktops, Laptops, Tablets, Apple iOS/Android devices
    • TCP/IP knowledge, including experience with connection troubleshooting for WAN, LAN and WiFi
    • Network firewall security policies, routing protocols, VPN tunneling methods, VLAN configuration, DHCP, DNS
    • Secure IoT network practices and implementations
