Cordia Resources is currently working with a large Washington, DC based nonprofit. Our client is seeking an experienced  Senior GL Accountant with at least 5 years of accounting experience preferably in nonprofit. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with a wide range of financial duties including A/P, A/R, payroll, bank reconciliations, general ledger journal entries, and reconciliations and receipts processing.

Requirement:
**Must have General Ledger and revenue recognition experience.
This is a hybrid role: 2 days in office, 3 days remote with yearly compensation in the range of $80k-$90k

Software: MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot tables) – required, (Nice to have –SAP, Cognos)
Report to: The Controller
Interview Process: Video interview (2), panel interview for final interview

Qualifications  
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business or equivalent practical experience
 
  • CPA certification or equivalent preferred but not required
 
  • At least 5 years of accounting experience preferably in Non-profit
 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a quick-learner
 
  • Working experience of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other Accounting standards
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational and stress management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel (Advanced skills are required)
  • SAP and IBM Cognos experience is preferred but not required
  • Ability to train other staff members
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision
 
   
Responsibilities  
  • Perform month-end close processes, including agreement review, and preparing/posting journal entries including;
ASC 606 Revenue Recognition & Corporate tax accruals
  • Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
 
  • Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and alert the senior management if necessary
 
  • Partner with Technology and other cross-business departments to define, establish and implement accounting system and accurate reporting
 
  • Coordinate annual audit and assist the director of Finance in running audits
 
  • Assist with annual IRS 990 form preparation
 
  • Assisting in the design and preparation of budgets for review by management
 
  • Have ownership and accountability for accuracy, timeliness, effectiveness, and efficiency of all tasks assigned
  • Assist other team members when needed
