Our client is a progressive land development and property management company in the DC Metro area that is looking to add a Project Accounting Manager to their growing Accounting Department. This position reports to a great Controller who we recently just placed. This position will be 100% in office for the time being, with a hybrid schedule potentially in 2023.
Responsibilities
- Establish a structure with supporting policies and procedures for accurate and detailed reporting on the company’s financial performance
- Provide supervision and guidance to the construction accounting team
- Ensure the financial statements accurately reflect the company’s activities in any given month by maintaining the general ledger, including contract revenue analysis (WIP), making month-end, and year-end adjusting journal entries, and communicating regularly with management regarding the company’s financial position
- Oversee preparation of Owner Payment Applications (AIA G702/703), accurate preparation of the full package of construction contracting financial statements, and bank transfers
- Work closely with the construction management team, performing monthly audits and reviews of projects, tracking costs, and providing advice
- Enter A/P for construction projects, process wires, and conduct bank reconciliations in QuickBooks
- Support internal stakeholders on a project-by-project basis to ensure accurate accounting and analyse variances and discrepancies
- Support Project Managers in monthly financial reporting and forecasting
- Other duties and activities, as assigned
Qualiications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or relevant experience, CPA preferred
- 5+ years of experience in construction cost and project accounting and percentage of completion accounting method
- Always operates in an ethical and professional manner and handles confidential information discreetly
- Demonstrated experience with AIA construction billing documents, cash flow analysis, and account reconciliation
- Demonstrated proficiency with QuickBooks, Sage 300, and Procore Financials
- Proven ability to use MS Word, Excel, and Outlook to professionally and effectively communicate internally and externally
- A proactive self-starter who is results-driven and has a strong desire to contribute high quality work
- Highly detail-oriented and analytical; quick to identify potential issues and concerns
- Flexibility to perform ad hoc projects
- Proven ability to adapt to changing situations and stays abreast of the evolving regulatory landscape
