Senior Accountant An exciting opportunity to become part of a leading healthcare system in the role of Senior Accountant! This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial systems and processes, including the general ledger, financial reports and analyses, and monthly close. Additionally, the Senior Accountant takes a leadership and coaching role in partnering with a small team of Staff Accountants while serving as a resource to Accounting Managers and the Controller.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee financial activity according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and monthly closing process
Assist in preparations for the annual audit
Lead and coach a small team of Staff Accountants; this includes assisting Staff Accountants with analyses, account reconciliations, and verifications of system interfaces
Prepare and review General Ledger entries to record activities of various business units
Assist with monthly financial close process
Perform research to comply with departmental monthly performance requests; analyze data to report on the organizational progress relative to established targets
Provide strategic support and address management needs for financial information through routine or ad hoc financial reports and analysis
Monitor and ensure timely identification and compliance with evolving accounting guidance, provide US GAAP interpretation, and prepare technical memorandums that document issues clearly and thoroughly
Continually explore new methods to improve operations, work with the management team to gain acceptance, and support implementation efforts
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; equivalent work experience accepted
CPA preferred but not required
At least three years of accounting experience, preferably in public accounting
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting software, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and similar programs
Thorough understanding of financial processes, specifically month-end close and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and handle confidential materials
