Cordia is partnered with a global government contractor providing a wide range of services and solutions to support national security missions and government agencies around the world. They are seeking an Interim Controller to join their team on a hybrid basis in Rockville, MD.

Job Title: Interim Controller
Location: Rockville, MD (Hybrid)
Hourly Rate: Market Rate
Job Type: Contract

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial operations of the company during a period of transition. You will work closely with the senior leadership team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, maintain internal controls, and manage the day-to-day accounting activities.


  • Manage the company's accounting and financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports, including monthly and quarterly financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data
  • Manage the annual audit process and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
  • Provide financial guidance to senior management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Manage and develop the accounting team to ensure a high level of performance and productivity
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and increase efficiency in the financial operations of the company


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations, including GAAP and SOX
  • Experience managing accounting and financial operations in a complex, global organization
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to senior leadership and other stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and develop solutions in a timely manner
  • Experience managing and developing a high-performing accounting team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software
