Accounting Manager-Non-profit 16195809

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our team on a contract basis. This role works 2 days in office in Washington, DC and 3 days remotely.  As an Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the month-end and year-end close processes for assigned properties, conducting various reconciliations and analyses, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the month-end and year-end close process for assigned properties, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial transactions and statements.
  • Perform general ledger and balance sheet account reconciliation and analysis, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Reconcile all general ledger accounts to subsidiary records, maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial information.
  • Track and reconcile intercompany transactions, ensuring proper documentation and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Support audit readiness work, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and internal controls.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and support special projects as needed.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Non-profit experience preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance roles, with experience in month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP.
  • Proficiency in financial statement analysis and reconciliation.
  • Experience with intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and self-motivated approach.
