We are currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our team on a contract basis. This role works 2 days in office in Washington, DC and 3 days remotely. As an Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the month-end and year-end close processes for assigned properties, conducting various reconciliations and analyses, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Responsibilities:
Assist with the month-end and year-end close process for assigned properties, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
Conduct monthly bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial transactions and statements.
Perform general ledger and balance sheet account reconciliation and analysis, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
Reconcile all general ledger accounts to subsidiary records, maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial information.
Track and reconcile intercompany transactions, ensuring proper documentation and resolving any discrepancies.
Support audit readiness work, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and internal controls.
Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and support special projects as needed.
Provide guidance and assistance to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Non-profit experience preferred
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance roles, with experience in month-end and year-end close processes.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP.
Proficiency in financial statement analysis and reconciliation.
Experience with intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the ability to meet deadlines.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
