Title: Senior Accountant
Location: Hybrid - Washington, DC
Hourly Rate: $40.00 - $50.00/hour
Job Type: Contract / Contract to Hire
Position Overview: As a Senior Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and accountability of our organization. You will oversee and manage financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and donor requirements. Your work will directly contribute to our ability to fulfill our mission and drive positive change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day financial activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
- Prepare and review financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to provide accurate and timely financial information to management and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with program managers to ensure accurate tracking of expenses and adherence to budgetary guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with non-profit accounting standards, government regulations, and grant/donor restrictions.
- Coordinate and support annual audits, working closely with external auditors and internal teams.
- Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Continuously identify process improvements and implement best practices to enhance financial efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA designation is a plus.
- Proven accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit or mission-driven organization.
- Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting principles, fund accounting, and grant management.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel. Experience with [specific software names, e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, etc.] is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
