Overview: Our client is a highly-respected, $25M Non-Profit organization based in Washington, DC. This organization is supported predominantly by federal agencies, as well as foundations and corporate and individual sponsorship. The company is in a hybrid work schedule. The organization is seeking a hands on, project minded Controller to lead daily accounting functions, oversee one staff, and drive best practices and operational efficiencies. Role reports to excellent COO. Salary between $125,00-150,000 with strong benefits.
Responsibilities:
Lead the company’s accounting efforts, including accounts payable and accounts receivable; make payments and deposits, manage invoices.
Manage back-end budgeting actions, including the creation of budget codes in the budgeting, accounting and timekeeping software and granting staff access to the budget software.
Monitor monthly actuals for projects and spend-down for foundation grants; make changes to the budget for forecasting purposes and as needed.
Run actual personnel hours based on semimonthly payroll conducted by Human Resources.
Run reports for cash flow, various foundation financial reporting, and other regular financial reports for the Management Team and Board of Directors.
Provide organizational and programmatic financial data for use in developing government and foundation proposals
Track and report sales against the organization’s GSA contract.
Manage state business registrations.
Act as the organization’s point of contract for external financial and accounting audits.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, required
Master's degree or CPA certification, preferred
10-12+ years of Non-Profit accounting experience, including management of foundation grants, required
Direct experience driving projects and building operational efficiencies
Experience using Great Plains and Bill.com, highly preferred
Experience with federal government contracting, preferred
