Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a dynamic and rapidly growing Non-Profit organization. As they continue to expand, they are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join the finance team.
Position Overview: As a Senior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of their financial records. You will be responsible for month-end close activities, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations, among other duties. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounting principles and practices, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform month-end closing activities, including preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and analyzing variances.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary information and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with financial audits and provide necessary support to auditors.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the implementation of best practices.
  • Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and standards and ensure compliance.
  • Mentor and train junior accounting staff as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on month-end close, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting requirements
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Experience with process improvements and implementing best practices is a plus.
