Our not-for-profit client is looking for an Accounting Manager! This is a hybrid reporting direct hire/full-time position! The Accounting Manager is responsible for working closely with the Executive Finance Leadership to maintain financial systems, policies, and procedures that are integrated and compliant with federal and state regulations. This role will also be responsible for overseeing the management of public funds the organization receives. The Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.

 

Accounting Manager Responsibilities:

  • Perform month-end closing procedures, including bank reconciliations, fixed assets, operating leases, depreciation calculations, investment reconciliations, rent analysis and payroll accounting.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries.
  • Review and make adjusting entries as needed to ensure accurate monthly reporting.
  • Prepare monthly operating report and monthly financial reports.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly department budget reports.
  • Reconcile unrestricted fund accounts and other accounts, as needed.
  • Oversee day-to-day management of the accounts receivable and accounts payable accountants.
  • Reconcile and record monthly payroll journal entries.
  • Assist in the preparation of information and reconciliation for annual audits (financial and 990 tax).
  • Lead implementation of new system development (time sheet and project reporting)
  • Prepare and track all the reporting requirements organization will file as a result of its receipt of any public grant or other form of government sponsored assistance.
  • Ability to interpret government guidelines in the use, reporting, and monitoring of public funds.
  • Assists with the design and implementation of any internal controls to ensure public funding streams are easily accounted for.

 

Accounting Manager Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in non-profit finance and accounting, and extensive knowledge of nonprofit fiscal management (501c3).
  • A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • A minimum of a BA in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration; CPA desirable.
  • Must be proficient in multiple finance technology platforms and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience using Navision/ Business Central accounting system and Salesforce or similar systems preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Makes decisions with confidence based on analysis of available information to drive business success.
