• We need a true “full cycle” Controller who understands the close process well in the Government Contracting environment. Someone who understands FAR and CAS regulations and incurred cost submissions..
• They want someone who can improve on processes and procedures, and has a history of that would be very beneficial.
• CPA and or MBA is preferred but not required.
• Big 4/Public/Corporate mix is preferred but not required.
• They are 4 days in and one home for now…When they update from QuickBooks to a Unanet/Costpoint/NetSuite systems, there will be more flexibility for WFH. The software is the main reason for needing to be in office currently.

Job Description:
A well-established Department of Defense (DoD) technology solutions company is looking for a Controller to join their growing team! The Controller is responsible for technical and administrative management of General Accounting and Finance. The applicant must have experience working for a government contractor. The applicant must be well organized, have great time management skills and be able to act independently. In Addition, the Controller plays a critical role in driving financial strategy, managing financial reporting, implementing internal controls, and providing insights to support informed decision-making. This position reports directly to Senior Management.
Corporate Responsibilities:
• Financial Reporting and Analysis: Oversee all financial operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, reconciliations, and journal entries. Conduct comprehensive financial analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Provide insightful reports to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans. Monitor actual performance against budgeted targets, analyze variances, and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
• Internal Controls and Compliance: Establish and maintain effective internal control systems to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. Monitor adherence to government accounting standards, including Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). Conduct periodic internal audits to assess compliance and mitigate financial risks.
• Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow, manage working capital, and optimize liquidity. Develop and implement cash flow forecasting models to support efficient financial operations.
• Financial Planning and Strategy: Support the Finance Team in developing and implementing financial strategies, goals, and initiatives. Provide financial insights and recommendations for business planning, investment decisions, and risk management. Conduct financial feasibility studies for new projects and investments.
• Global Payroll Processing: Oversee the end-to-end payroll process for both domestic and international employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local laws and regulations. This includes handling multi-state payroll and taxes, particularly focusing on California state requirements, as well as managing international payroll complexities.
• Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team. Set performance goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations. Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and process improvement within the finance department.
• Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including executives, project managers, auditors, and regulatory bodies. Provide financial expertise, guidance, and support to cross-functional teams. Serve as a key point of contact for financial inquiries and audits.
• Assists the company with other financial and administration duties as needed.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting or related field. Advanced degree (e.g., MBA) and relevant certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA) are highly desirable.
• Five (5) years of previous experience in a finance management role within the DoD industry, with a strong focus on compliance and DCAA Requirements.
• In-depth understanding of DCMA and DCAA regulations and compliance requirements related to cost accounting, indirect rates, contractual audits, and incurred cost submissions.
• Knowledge of government accounting standards, including Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
• Strong understanding of financial reporting standards (e.g., GAAP), internal controls, and compliance requirements.
• Experience with Cost-Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF) and Firm-Fixed Price (FFP) contracts.
• Proficiency in financial management software such as QuickBooks and ERP systems such as Unanet or comparable systems and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic insights.
• Strong leadership abilities with experience in managing and developing finance teams.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
• Current active or prior security clearance within the Department of Defense is preferred but not mandatory.
