Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Maintain and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles in accordance with GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.
Budgeting and Reporting:
Lead the annual budgeting process, including the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis to senior management and the board of directors.
Prepare financial reports for grants, funders, and regulatory agencies as required.
Audit and Compliance:
Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and ensuring timely resolution of audit findings.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations, including tax filings and reporting requirements.
Maintain internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
Team Leadership:
Supervise and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, promoting professional growth and development.
Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new accounting staff as needed.
Strategic Planning:
Support the CFO and senior management in strategic financial planning and decision-making.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve organizational efficiency and sustainability.
Participate in long-term financial planning and risk management initiatives.
Other Duties:
Stay current with industry trends and best practices in non-profit accounting and finance.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the CFO.
Qualifications:
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Minimum of 7-10 years of accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a management role within a non-profit organization.
Thorough knowledge of GAAP, non-profit accounting standards, and relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) and advanced MS Excel skills.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
