Join this dynamic team as the Senior Accounting Manager, where you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the fiscal health and sustainability of our non-profit organization. In this vital position, you'll oversee our financial operations, guiding an exceptional accounting team and ensuring compliance with all financial regulations.

Responsibilities:
  1. Financial Management:
    • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
    • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
    • Maintain and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles in accordance with GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.
  2. Budgeting and Reporting:
    • Lead the annual budgeting process, including the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
    • Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis to senior management and the board of directors.
    • Prepare financial reports for grants, funders, and regulatory agencies as required.
  3. Audit and Compliance:
    • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and ensuring timely resolution of audit findings.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations, including tax filings and reporting requirements.
    • Maintain internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
  4. Team Leadership:
    • Supervise and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
    • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, promoting professional growth and development.
    • Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new accounting staff as needed.
  5. Strategic Planning:
    • Support the CFO and senior management in strategic financial planning and decision-making.
    • Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve organizational efficiency and sustainability.
    • Participate in long-term financial planning and risk management initiatives.
  6. Other Duties:
    • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in non-profit accounting and finance.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned by the CFO.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a management role within a non-profit organization.
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP, non-profit accounting standards, and relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
