Job Type: Temporary (Contract)
Hourly Rate: $40/hr.

Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Accounts Payable (AP) Accountant to join our team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment in Washington, DC. This is a temporary role that requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in accounts payable processes. The ideal candidate should have a keen eye for detail, the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and excellent organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:
Process a high volume of invoices accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Review and verify invoices for appropriate documentation and approval before payment.
Code invoices, expense reports, and other financial documents to the correct general ledger accounts.
Reconcile AP transactions and resolve discrepancies with vendors and internal departments.
Prepare and process electronic payments, checks, and other AP transactions.
Maintain vendor records and ensure accurate documentation.
Assist with month-end close by reconciling AP sub-ledger to the general ledger.
Provide support for audits by preparing and organizing relevant documentation.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate payment processing.
Respond promptly to vendor inquiries and resolve any payment or invoice issues.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting role in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in AP systems and software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems).
Strong understanding of AP processes, general accounting principles, and financial reconciliations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for handling vendor and interdepartmental communications.
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with AP automation tools and technology.
Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, v-lookups, and data analysis.
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
