Chicago, IllinoisCordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with Chicago based Not for Profit who is seeking seasoned Interim Controller to join their dynamic team. This role is on a consulting basis, but does offer the opportunity to transition into a permanent position for the right candidate. As the Interim Controller, you will oversee a team of 4 and ensure the seamless financial operations of our client’s organization.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor a team of 4 (Sr. Acct, Staff Acct, and 2 Acct Clerks).
- Oversee full-cycle accounting and ensure compliance with internal controls.
- Complex financial reporting.
- Revenue recognition, fund accounting and investment accounting which ca be complicated.
- Approve payroll (hours loaded into the system by HR).
- Prepare support for workpapers for upcoming audit.
- Proven experience as a Controller role.
- Solid accounting expertise and able to handle day to day accounting functions
- Strong systems proficiency and ability to quickly learn new systems.
- Experience in fund and investment accounting.
- Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills including strategic consideration and thinking about the future.
- Ability to work onsite 3-4 days a week in Chicago (Lincoln Park area).
- Demonstrated success in managing and developing finance teams.
- Strong communication skills, capable of working with senior leadership.
