Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting
Location: Hybrid (Washington, DC Metro Area) – In-office presence 1–3 times/month
 


About the Opportunity
A cutting-edge technology company at the forefront of innovation is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Financial Reporting team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong SEC reporting experience and a passion for technical accounting. The company is scaling rapidly and offers a dynamic, high-growth environment where your contributions will directly support strategic decision-making and regulatory compliance.


Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review SEC filings (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K) and other regulatory reports.
  • Draft financial statements and footnote disclosures in compliance with US GAAP.
  • Coordinate quarterly reviews and annual audits with external auditors.
  • Support monthly controller reporting by gathering and analyzing data across departments.
  • Conduct quarterly variance analysis on balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Research and document technical accounting issues and new pronouncements.
  • Review journal entries and reconciliations for complex accounting areas.
  • Assist with accounting for business combinations and investments.
  • Execute key internal controls and identify opportunities for automation.
  • Supervise and mentor financial reporting staff.
  • Provide backup support and contribute to special projects as needed.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • 3–5 years of experience in financial reporting and/or public accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of SEC reporting and US GAAP.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and multitask effectively.

Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Experience in a large public accounting firm
  • Strong initiative and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
