One of our clients, a fast-growth, VC-backed international software outfit, located in Arlington County, is seeking a Controller. 

THIS POSITION CAN BE REMOTE.


$140-160k range (total comp) + equity (TBD)

The Controller will lead all accounting functionality for this growth outfit - the key is someone who can be "hands-on" and not be afraid of "the weeds" but also someone who will be pushed into the spotlight as well, and help grow the department.  The position reports to the VP of Finance and will work collaboratively with the FP&A Manager. This position carries out all aspects of accounting including: monthly close, managing audit and taxes, systems and processes, 606 revenue recognition, overseeing US and international payroll, assisting in GAAP financial modeling, and AP/AR.

Position Scope:
  • Own the accounting function from top to bottom
  • Lead and grow the team
  • Perform the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes
  • Manage the annual audit and taxes, including corporate income tax and other business taxes
  • Manage the company’s auditors and tax advisors
  • Design processes and policies as well as select and implement systems
  • Ensure compliance with 606 revenue recognition
  • Oversee US and international payroll
  • Assist with financial modeling, particularly in GAAP conversion of billings to revenue
  • Oversee AR and AP
Qualifications
  • CPA highly preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Public auditing experience is preferred but not required
  • Must have led/helped lead an accounting function at a PE/VC-backed fast-growth start-up (software required)
  • QuickBooks is required
  • Experience with mainstream accounting packages preferred - will be upgrading in first year
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and work in an ever-changing hyper growth environment
Culture & Compensation:
  • Base compensation range is $140-160k depending on experience (total comp)
