$65,000 - $75,000 all-in base + benefits

Growing start-up in Washington, DC is building out its accounting team and needs a 2+ year Accountant to help streamline all A/P processes, handle bank and account reconciliations and contribute to the G/L projects and departmental quality control process.  Our client is a leading developer, owner, and operator of solar projects in the nation’s capital. Client has a tremendous platform since its founding in 2016 and is poised for continued growth in 2021 and beyond. 

The Staff Accountant, working full time, will report to and work closely with the Accounting Manager to perform accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions. The right candidate will be extremely detail oriented, personable and responsible, with a very high level of accuracy.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Review and process invoices for payment for vendors and subcontractors
  • Enforce compliance and payment process for vendors and subcontractors
  • Review and verify certificates of insurance for subcontractors prior to issuing payments
  • Maintain and track all W-9’s for subcontractors and 1099’s as required
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
  • Review and process corporate credit card charges and expense reports
  • Assist with processing billings and change orders for multiple construction projects while working closely with project managers
  • Assist Accounting Manager and Bookkeeper in processing payroll and ensuring compliance with payroll tax reporting
  • Assist with month-end closing
  • 2-4 years accounts payable experience
  • 1-3 years of progressive accounting experience preferred
  • Payroll processing is a plus
  • bill.com experience is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience with working with multiple entities preferred
  • Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
  • Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking, ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Organized, dedicated, responsible and efficient individual
