Wonderful opportunity for a direct hire, Corporate Controller in Cheverly, MD! For this position, the Corporate Controller will manage the day-to-day operations of the accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger functions. Other duties include but are not limited to financial planning, budgeting, driving cost savings initiatives and tax compliance. The Corporate Controller will report to the company's President and, will oversee a staff of seven employees who work in the accounting department of a media and marketing company. Corporate Controller Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of accounts receivable, accounts payable and general ledger functions.

  • Make recommendations for cost savings initiatives.

  • Complete monthly financial statements, general ledger reconciliations and month-end closing procedures.

  • Prepare forecasts and budgets.

  • Prepare schedules and documentation for the annual financial statement review.

  • Manage banking relationships.

  • Process payroll and 401K administration.

  • File sales tax returns.

  • Provide timely financial reporting, analysis of results, and make recommendations to the Company's management team and its owners.

  • Be an agent for and lead the process for change. 

Corporate Controller Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting

  • 10+ years experience as corporate controller 

  • Tech skills include MS Office Suite and automated accounting system

  • Experience implementing new automated accounting systems

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, job costing and basic corporate tax 

  • Experience working in union environment

  • Excellent accounting skills and able to work in a high energy, fast-paced environment.

  • Strong management skills and leadership abilities
