Our client, a $25m nonprofit organization working to help make the federal government a more dynamic, innovative, and effective servant of the American people, are looking to add a dynamic Staff/Senior Accountant to their team.  This position will report directly to the Controller, and handle and manage a multitude of daily tasks.
This position will be 100% for 2021 and slowly move to hybrid in 2022. Salary will be in the range of $75,000-85,000.

Senior Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Support and lead most accounts payable and accounts receivable project and function;
  • Make payments and deposits, manage invoices
  • Support the Controller with annual audit, help and participate in the month-end and year-end closing process, generate timely and accurate monthly financial statements, and; report financials to external stakeholders, including foundations
  • Process weekly accounts payable by reviewing invoices, coding to appropriate account, issuing checks, and maintaining vendor files
  • Issue accounts receivable invoices in a timely and accurate manner, while providing weekly aging reports to departments; assist with collection on invoices. 
  • Reconcile statements in a timely and accurate manner
  • Perform check and credit card deposits, including saving check copies and submitting payment information to the appropriate team in a timely and accurate manner
  • Complete state registrations and act as liaison to the state attorney general’s offices. 
  • Assist in preparing annual budgets
  • Track and report sales against the organization’s GSA contract
  • Assist with annual audit
  • Serve as back up to HR for processing payroll.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Senior Accountant Requirements:
  • BS in Accounting, Finance or Business-related studies required
  • Three or more (3+) years of relevant accounting experience required
  • Knowledge of GAAP required
  • Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable experience required
  • Average-to-above-average MS Excel skills required.
  • Nonprofit, association or NGO accounting experience preferred
  • Experience with federal government contracting preferred
  • Familiarity with Great Plains accounting software is preferred
  • Good systems/technical aptitude required
  • Willingness to be hands-on, independent and organized!
