Accounts Payable Specialist 15509498

Falls Church, VA
Our client is a national pension fund association located in Falls Church, VA are in need of an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist, reporting to the Accounting Manager. This individual will be responsible for processing all Accounts Payable transactions in a timely and accurate manner across multiple funds.  Salary will be $60k and they are in office 3 days a week.

Responsibilities include:
  • Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and obtain approval prior to payment
  • Evaluate expense reports and make adjustments if necessary per travel policy guidelines
  • Process check requests
  • Reconcile and process credit card bills
  • 1099 maintenance and IRS filing
  • Respond to all vendor inquiries regarding account status
  • Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies
  • Understand and perform intercompany transactions within accounting software (Great Plains)
  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately using the OnBase ECM, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
  • Sort and distribute incoming accounting department mail
  • Perform various ad-hoc analyses of payables as required
  • Assist with other projects within the Accounting department as needed
All candidates for this position must meet the following requirements:
  • Prior experience in a similar role
  • AA degree required, Bachelors in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Proficiency with accounting software - Microsoft Dynamics/Great Plains is a plus
  • Experience with job costing, project codes, or similar expense tracking methodology
  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong problem solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner
  • Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
