Our client is a technology focused and internationally operating, $40M Nonprofit, with locations in Arlington/Alexandria, VA and Asia. The organization’s focus is generating education programs and online course delivery for employees in the HR field. They’ve made substantial investments in technology (Workday) and have a dedicated data analytics and reports building team to support growth and innovation.
They’re seeking a Senior Accountant to support their financial reporting and analysis team and will report directly to the incredible Associate Director (friendly and emphasizes learning). This position is primed for growth with the hiring manager wanting to quickly groom the candidate to become an Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter who wants to grow and learn. Salary will be $90-100k with an amazing work life balance (Remote work, lots of PTO plus an additional 40 “learning hours”).

Senior Accountant Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly closing journal entries and ensure accurate and timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts to subsidiary ledgers and work with appropriate staff to resolve any reconciling items in a timely manner
  • Records daily cash transactions
  • Maintain fixed asset ledgers – identify, record, and timely capitalize eligible assets & projects
  • Maintains prepaid asset schedules and prepares amortization entries
  • Prepare schedules required for the audit and interact with the auditors as necessary
  • Prepare sales tax returns & property tax returns
  • Global Accounting – record international transactions and monthly reporting for international offices & provide general accounting support for global offices
  • Ensure integrity of general ledger data by recording and verifying transactions
  • Analyze financial data and perform variance analysis against budget
  • Assist with research of complex technical accounting matters
  • Cross train with and provide backup support to other Finance department staff
  • Establish, modify, and document accounting control procedures
  • Support internal stakeholders by researching and answering accounting and financial questions
  • Support and research enhancements for financial management system
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Assist in ad hoc projects as necessary
     
Senior Accountant Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA preferred
  • 3 or more years of accounting experience
  • Strong financial analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to meet constant stream of deadlines and prioritize work effectively
  • Intermediate to expert level Excel skills
