DC based organization is adding a Compensation and Benefits Manager to their team due to growth.

You are a good fit if you have had progressively more responsible roles in developing and managing compensation and benefits programs and are ready to jump knee deep into a transformation project.  You should have great HRIS skills, a desire to facilitate change and a strong customer service orientation.

In this role, you will be working a flexible hybrid schedule.

Compensation Management
  • Manage company-wide compensation program, ensuring market competitiveness and internal/external equity.
  • Partner with VP to update annual merit increase and bonus processes, including communications, project planning, timelines, system setup, payment calculations, data management and dissemination, audits, approvals, and providing end results to payroll for input.
  • Work with VP and operations leadership to develop property incentive compensation programs and supporting processes and procedures.
  • Review and update day-to-day administration of compensation policies and programs, including partnering with managers to educated team members on compensation philosophy and execution.
  • Ensure all proposed compensation adjustments conform to established guidelines, policies and practices.
  • Develop and manage administration of incentive programs.
  • Assist with executive compensation research, analysis and benchmarks
  • Participate annually in industry compensations surveys, studies and benchmarks.

Benefits Management
  • Partner with internal teams, and external vendors, to manage plan administration efforts for health and welfare benefits, including medical, mental, life, AD&D, disability, FSA, HSA and 401(k) plan.
  • Manage and analyze the design and cost of benefit programs, review and report on trends, monitor the competitiveness of benefit programs and contribute to the annual budget preparation process.
  • Collaborate with leadership team to negotiate and contract with benefit plan providers, vendors, auditors and consultants for services, premiums, and plan administration.
  • Research and recommend short- and long-term benefits strategies to ensure market competitiveness and employee retention.
  • Manage administration and process for employee leaves, such as FMLA and disability programs ( ADA, STD and LTD).
  • Develop and implement comprehensive wellness program and initiatives.
  • Contribute to the employee onboarding process and educate employees on the benefits throughout their entire employment cycle: at the time of hire and continually as needed, through new employee orientation, newsletters, emails and individual communications.
  • Manage annual open enrollment process, including partnering with brokers and carriers for developing communication materials, supporting employee meetings and driving engagement.
  • Manage COBRA administration through vendor relationship.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local benefit laws and regulations, including appropriate filings with assistance from outside providers where needed, such as 5500’s, ACA compliance, 401(k) audit, etc.
  • Partner with insurance broker to ensure effective communication of health care law notifications/mandates to employees via written notification.
  • Participate on company’s 401(k) Plan committees and manage all plan notifications to employees and participants in accordance with the law.

HRIS Administration
  • Manage all compensation and benefit administration of company’s HRIs (UKG Pro), including updating benefit rates annually, processing annual increases and providing overall administration support for system.
  • Identify and recommend system processes and improvements for compensation and benefits administration.
  • BS degree in human resources, business or related field
  • Progressively more responsible roles managing compensation and benefits programs, ideally in a public company environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of legislation impacting benefit plans (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, PPACA) and IRS rules and regulations.
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office (Excel for sure) and HRIS systems, ideally with UKG Pro (formerly known as Ultipro).
  • Outstanding communication skills, including verbal, written, listening and presenting to various audiences
  • Superior analytical and forecasting skills, attention to detail and commitment to high quality work product.
  • Ability to work independently and self-directed, but also enjoys working on a team collaboratively.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to champion through daily interactions.
