Senior Accountant
Remote – Candidates need to be local to the DMV area for occasional meetings and team building events, office location is the Dulles area
$90-110k

Our client is a rapidly growing consulting company specializing in the government contracting and healthcare industries. Their growth has increased the need for a Senior Accountant to join the team and handle all accounting tasks, interact with their vendor partners/clients regarding contracts and burn down rates plus assist the outside CPA firm with necessary reports and paperwork. This is a great opportunity to join a firm in growth mode and be a part of organizing the company for the future! This position reports to the CEO/Founder of the company.

Senior Accountant duties include:
  • Prepare monthly closing journal entries and ensure accurate and timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts to subsidiary ledgers and work with appropriate staff to resolve any reconciling items in a timely manner
  • Responsible for the accounts receivable cycle and accounts payable cycle
  • Prepare schedules required for the audit and interact with the auditors as necessary
  • Ensure integrity of general ledger data by recording and verifying transactions
  • Analyze financial data and perform variance analysis against budget
  • Assist with research of complex technical accounting matters
  • Manage burndown and utilization rates on a per program basis
  • Establish, modify, and document accounting control procedures
  • Support internal stakeholders by researching and answering accounting and financial questions
  • Review company P&L's for variances and record journal entries as necessary.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and monitor budget needs and requirements
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Assist in ad hoc projects as necessary
     
Qualification and Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA preferred
  • 5 or more years of accounting experience in government contracting or IT services
  • Strong financial analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work remote effectively and the ability to know when to ask for help
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to meet constant stream of deadlines and prioritize work effectively
