Cordia Resources has collaborated with a large, mission-oriented non-profit in search of a motivated Staff Accountant to join their growing team. The Staff Accountant will be joining a dynamic team on a hybrid basis, reporting directly to the Director of Finance. They will support full cycle general ledger accounting grants accounting duties including preparing financial reports, reviewing and recording sub awards and payments, and reviewing endowment contracts and documentation. The ideal candidate will have a background in general ledger or nonprofit accounting, with the desire and ability to take on a well-rounded set of duties. Responsible for general ledger accounting, posting journal entries, bank reconciliations, and prepaids
Prepare month-end reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, analyze and prepare adjusting journal entries
Support preparation of financial reports including financial statements, budget performance, and interim grant financial reporting
Review grant and endowment contracts and documents. Record, track, and monitor sub awards and payments
Process cash and check deposits and donations, reviewing, reconciling and recording all appropriately
Support additional accounting department teams, with functions including annual budget preparation, forecasting, year-end close, and consolidation
Coordinate with third-party auditors as needed, gathering and maintain supporting documentation as necessary
Deliver detailed, high quality, and timely reports as requested
Special projects and other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required
Ideal candidate will have prior experience (2-4 years) in nonprofit, grants, or general ledger accounting
Experience with Great Plains or Microsoft Dynamics desired, but not required
Strong working knowledge with Microsoft Excel
Communication skills with the ability to interact with wide range of people across multiple levels the organization
Ability to multi-task to meet deadlines, with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach
