Job Title: Interim Controller
Location: Hybrid - Washington, DC
Job Type: Contract / Contract-to-Hire
Hourly Rate: $60.00 - $75.00/Hour

Job Overview: As the Interim Controller, you will be the financial steward guiding our organization through a transformative phase. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring financial stability and supporting our mission to make a positive difference in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take the helm of day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in every transaction.
  • Craft and maintain financial policies and internal controls that align with our commitment to excellence.
  • Provide insightful financial reports and forecasts that empower decision-makers within the organization.
  • Collaborate with department heads to analyze budget variances, turning numbers into actionable insights.
  • Navigate the regulatory landscape, ensuring our organization's compliance with accounting standards and non-profit reporting requirements.
  • Work seamlessly with external auditors to facilitate a smooth and transparent annual audit process.
  • Lead the charge in developing our annual budget, working closely with program managers to ensure our financial plans are both realistic and impactful.
  • Keep a watchful eye on cash flow and working capital, playing a pivotal role in maintaining our financial well-being.
  • Implement savvy cash management strategies to optimize our financial liquidity.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance environment within the finance team, empowering them to reach new heights.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Controller or similar financial leadership role in a non-profit setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
