Deputy Director of Finance Responsibilities:
Maintains full integrity of all revenues, ensuring organization policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and regulations, are followed.
Manage all aspects of full-cycle accounting general ledger cost accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliation and cash management.
Complete monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
Compiles fiscal estimates and prepares fiscal reports as requested.
Ensures compliance with accounting procedures through observation, supervision, and testing.
Develops procedures that ensure collections are complete and current.
Closely collaborates with CFO in the preparation of annual budget and mid-year budget revision.
Coordinates with external auditor on annual financial and single audit as well as on annual tax return.
Prepares financial reports and schedules quarterly reconciliation meetings with grantor.
Coordinates the preparation of materials and meeting follow-ups for the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors.
Liaises with banking partners.
Assures adherence to contractual obligations and on-time payment of all vendors.
Ensure that organizational reporting requirements to other agencies and regulators are met.
Work to improve internal controls, policies, and procedures in accordance with GAAP, and ensure compliance with accounting procedures through observation, supervision, and testing.
Deputy Director of Finance Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
5+ years of progressive management experience in accounting or finance in a non-profit environment, and or public accounting firm.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) license or CPA designation highly preferred.
Excellent managerial skills and ability to evaluate the work of others.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial concepts and data.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail including attention to detail and analytical ability to develop and implement improvements, as needed.
Experience working with an affordable housing program preferred.
Proficiency with accounting software and experience with software system implementation.
Proficiency with all MS Office software including advanced Excel capabilities (i.e., formulas, functions, and pivot tables).
Experience managing the accounting and payment processing components of the YARDI property management software preferred.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Government Accounting Standards (GASB) principles and practices of accounting, financial management and auditing, financial statement preparation.
Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
