Title: Senior Accountant (part-time)
Location: Remote - with occasional travel to Washington, DC
Hourly Rate: $40.00 - $45.00/hour
Job Type: Contract (3+ months)

20 hours per week to start with potential to increase once capabilities are established
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in General Ledger (G/L) management, reconciliations, and a deep understanding of QuickBooks. The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in overseeing various financial processes, including the coding of invoices, recording grant transactions in the G/L, and managing the distinction between Temp/Perm restricted and unrestricted funds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and reconcile the General Ledger to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor and analyze financial transactions to identify discrepancies and take corrective actions.
- Proficient in using QuickBooks for deposit processing, including reconciliations and coding of invoices.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in QuickBooks.
- Demonstrate expertise in recording grant transactions in the General Ledger.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of grant accounting principles and compliance requirements.
- Differentiate between Temp/Perm restricted and unrestricted funds and apply appropriate accounting treatment.
- Provide insight and guidance on fund utilization, ensuring compliance with donor restrictions.
- Contribute to the preparation of financial reports and statements.
- Generate ad-hoc financial reports as needed for management and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial information and support various business initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to address inquiries and provide financial insights.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA certification is highly desirable.
- Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or in a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of General Ledger principles and practices.
- Extensive experience with QuickBooks and other accounting software.
- Familiarity with grant accounting and fund management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
