POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Federal Contracting Accounting Specialist will be responsible for performing a variety of general accounting support tasks to ensure schedules, ledgers, and reporting packages are processed timely and accurately using a variety of software and other electronic tools. This position will work closely with Program Managers and Contracts. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Finance and Accounting. 
 
WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Perform regular financial administration and financial reporting
  • Reconcile, review and report daily cash activity and positions
  • Review and prepare subledger journal entries for accounts payable, cash receipts, and associated general ledger accounts
  • Review standard and actual costs from voucher distributions for inaccuracies and variances
  • Assist with reconciling balance sheet accounts
  • Work with Project Managers, Project Controller, Contracts, and Revenue Compliance staff to ensure project setup configurations meet the billing, revenue recognition and reporting requirements are aligned with Project Accounting standards and policies, and challenge setups where anomalies occur
  • Assist Project Controller with monitoring costs and manpower on a weekly basis ensuring that actuals are within budget and charged to the correct Project ID. Process cost re-classes as required
  • Assist with preparation of program financial Estimates to Complete (ETC) and Estimates at Complete (EAC)
  • Prepare, review, and submit briefings on various ad-hoc reports, summaries and other information requested by leaders and staff including Internal Program Reviews (IPR)
  • Support accounts receivable during the billing process by monitoring billing status and unbilled issues, working with F&A, Contracts, and PMO to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Support program revenue and profit recording in compliance with the EAC
  • Participate in month-end close activities
  • Support audits
  • Assist with or coordinate projects and initiatives between F&A and other groups
  • Analyze both complex and simple financial reports and records
  • Provide support in process improvement initiatives to ensure compliance with GAAP, contractual mandates, and regulations as required by internal procedures and external agencies.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
  • 3+ years of financial and accounting experience including working knowledge of payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions required
  • Associate's or equivalent degree in accounting or related field. Willing to hire with 5+ years of experience in lieu of a degree
  • 1+ years of experience using Costpoint required. Experience with project set-up and maintenance in Costpoint desired
  • 5+ years of government contracting experience required. Relevant industry experience related to FAR/CAS, Forward Pricing Rate Agreements (FPRA), Audit, and Government compliance
  • Experience using Unanet desired
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
  • Ability to adapt to changes in responsibilities as the needs of the company change and grow.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed to cover department responsibilities
  • Client/customer focus with a sense of urgency to deliver quality work 
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence and negotiate skillfully 
  • Ability to work with management and executives within and outside of the company and have the willingness and ability to promote TC business
