Our client, a nonprofit organization who impacts communities and organizations around the world, is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Accountant to help maintain financial integrity and support the organization's mission. This key role will assist in all aspects of accounting operations, including budgeting, compliance, grants, and audit readiness. The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely financial information while providing guidance and mentorship to more junior team members. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in nonprofit accounting, exceptional operational accounting skills, a great team-oriented mentality, and a passion for making a difference in communities around the world.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Duties of Position:
Oversee the general ledger and ensure a timely monthly close.
Responsible for generating the monthly financial statements and ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
Prepare and track all the reporting requirements this organization will file as a result of its receipt of any public grant or other form of government sponsored assistance.
Assists with the design and implementation of any internal controls to ensure public funding streams are easily accounted for and spent in a manner consistent with their intent.
Support the Controller with the annual audits; financial statement, Pension Plan, and 403(b)
Support the preparation of the annual Form 990 tax return and related state returns.
Work cross-functionally with other departments for various projects and initiatives.
Responsible for developing and maintaining effective policies and procedures that reflect well-balanced internal controls.
Participate in various business processes and technology integration initiatives.
Reports directly to the Controller and supervise at least one direct report.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
3+ years of supervisory experience.
Willingness to be hands on and work closely with the details, prepare complex journal entries.
Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Ability to support big picture goals while maintaining day-to-day tasks.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
Maintain high personal integrity and strong work ethic.
Experience with Sage Intacct preferred but not required.
