Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee our grants and accounts receivable functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing grant finances, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and optimizing accounts receivable processes. This role requires exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Grants Management:
    • Manage and oversee all financial aspects of grants, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance.
    • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of grant budgets, financial reports, and invoicing.
    • Monitor grant expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets and compliance with funding requirements.
    • Coordinate with program managers to provide financial guidance and support for grant-related activities.
    • Liaise with grantors and funding agencies to resolve any financial discrepancies or issues.
  2. Accounts Receivable Management:
    • Oversee the accounts receivable function, including billing, collections, and reconciliation.
    • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing of customers and grantors.
    • Monitor accounts receivable aging and implement strategies to minimize outstanding balances.
    • Work closely with the collections team to resolve payment issues and improve cash flow.
    • Maintain accurate records of all accounts receivable transactions.
  3. Financial Reporting and Analysis:
    • Prepare and analyze financial reports related to grants and accounts receivable.
    • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data to support decision-making.
    • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  4. Compliance and Audit:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines for grant management and accounts receivable.
    • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
    • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets.
  5. Team Leadership and Development:
    • Supervise and mentor the grants and accounts receivable team.
    • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and performance.
    • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on grants and accounts receivable.
  • Strong knowledge of grant management principles, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a nonprofit or governmental organization.
  • Familiarity with federal and state grant regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial management software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
