Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a global renewable energy company who is looking for an experienced Tax Manager to lead and manage multiple operations of the tax practice area and to deliver quality tax services, that will increase firm’s reputation. You will serve as business advisor to our clients aiming at maximizing engagement and achieving qualitative outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage all aspects of federal, state, and local tax compliance for the company, including income tax, sales tax, property tax, and other applicable taxes.
• Calculating, together with the company’s external tax advisors, the income tax advance payments the company is obligated to pay for Federal and State.
• Review and ensuring accuracy of the tax returns prepared by the company external tax advisers and coordinate with the tax advisors and auditors to support tax filings and audits.
• Managing the tax reporting schedule to ensure submissions are done on a timely manner.
• Analyze the full tax outcome of the various Tax partnerships and structures of the Company and advice management of best ways to utilized tax incentives.
• Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize the company's tax liabilities while maximizing opportunities for tax savings.
• Stay well-informed of changes in tax laws and regulations that may impact the company's tax position, and proactively advise management on potential implications.
• Analyze business activities, investments, and transactions to identify tax planning opportunities and risks.
• Collaborate with the finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting of tax-related financial information.
• Prepare tax provisions and disclosures for financial statements in accordance with GAAP and statutory requirements.
• Support external financial audits by providing necessary tax documentation and explanations.
• Conduct tax research on complex issues and tax incentives and provide guidance to management on tax implications of business decisions.
• Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, assess their impact on the company, and recommend appropriate actions to ensure compliance.
• Develop and maintain internal controls related to tax compliance and reporting processes.
• Collaborate with various departments, including legal, operations, Origination, and business development, to provide tax support and guidance on strategic initiatives.
• Work closely with project teams to assess tax implications of new projects, investments, and partnerships.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Taxation (preferred), Finance, or related field; CPA or advanced degree (MST, JD) preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax compliance and planning, preferably in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, particularly as they relate to renewable energy. Partnership compliance in tax equity structures in the renewable energy sector is preferred.
• Experience with Income tax accounting under ASC 740.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
