Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a commercial and government sector financial consulting firm who is seeking a Senior Accounting Consultant to contribute to critical Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) efforts within the financial services industry. Title: Senior Accounting Consultant
Location: Remote
Hourly Rate: $40.00 - $50.00/hour
Job Type: Contract (1-2 years)

Our client is seeking individuals with 3-5 years of senior/independent contributor level experience, ICFR expertise, and experience in the financial services industry. This is a 1-2 year long project that offers a fully remote work environment.

As part of the Accounting Operations team, you will:

• Assess, develop, monitor, and manage all aspects of the ICFR framework.
• Provide support and training to stakeholders on ICFR requirements and processes.
• Contribute to annual planning, quarterly certifications, and internal control documentation.
• Evaluate and address deficiencies while ensuring robust remediation activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and update ICFR documentation (narratives, flowcharts, matrices, and more).
• Perform assessments of control deficiencies and track remediation plans.
• Oversee internal control databases for accuracy and completeness.
• Conduct accounting operations, including booking, analytics, validations, and financial reporting.
• Assist in annual ICFR planning and quarterly IT control certifications.
• Design and deliver annual ICFR training sessions.
• Collaborate on cross-functional ICFR projects and special initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3-5 years’ experience in Accounting, Finance, or Auditing within a financial organization handling a mortgage portfolio.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger systems and month-end close procedures.
• Proficiency with MS Office and general accounting software.
• Collaborative mindset, strong analytical skills, and self-motivation.
• Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.
• CPA and/or CISA certification preferred.

• Authorized to work in the United States as a permanent resident or US Citizen.
• Must successfully pass a background investigation and drug screening.
