Position Summary: The Senior Staff Accountant will provide overall support for all organizational accounting functions as well as fulfill staff needs around accounting questions, and vendor and member need as appropriate. This position serves as an integral part in ensuring that the organization and its Foundation’s financial operations run smoothly.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the daily accounting transactions for both Association and Foundation, to include accounts payable (utilizing Bill.com and Tallie), accounts receivable (utilizing iMIS and Sage Intacct), deposits (utilizing B of A CashPro) and general journal entries.
Research, track and report on A/P issues and discrepancies.
Process monthly reconciliations of bank accounts for both entities, credit cards, and investments accounts.
Assist with the monthly close process, and the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
Follow up with vendors and/or members with outstanding balances and checks not deposited.
Maintain vendor contracts and agreements, ensuring all necessary documentation is on file, accurate and up to date.
Create and distribute invoices utilizing iMIS membership database.
Create and manage new coupon codes and new products as needed.
Answer member inquiries regarding orders and billing questions.
Provide expertise and technical support of iMIS system.
Work with non-accounting staff, members, and vendors on financial matters.
Assist with improving, implementing, and documenting processes and internal control policies and procedures.
Maintain a strong control environment ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
Function as the primary backup and support for the CFO.
Other financial and administrative duties and staff, vendor, and member support as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance
3-5+ years of accounting experience (preferably in an association, professional society or other non-profit)
Experience with Sage Intacct accounting software and Bill.com
Ability to quickly interpret and analyze financial statements
Solid understanding of GAAP concepts
Working knowledge of ADP payroll systems
Advanced facility with Excel spreadsheets
Experience with iMIs membership database/software a plus
Experience with Salesforce a plus
Proven track record of results
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple tasks, work independently, and grasp concepts quickly
