Overview of company and position:
- Government Contractor-but candidate can come from a different industry

- Senior Accountant-This person will perform Payroll for 130 FTES 2x a month (This will occupy 30% of their time) and the AR and AP for the company.
- Position is open due to insourcing. They use an outsourced firm and are bringing the function in house
- Reports into a VP of Finance and HR – super nice and a huge advocate for employees.

Position Description:
Senior Accountant
This position offers a very flexible hybrid work schedule. Looking for candidates in the DMV area that can travel to Virginia office 1-2 a month as needed.
As the Senior Accountant you will:
- Ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
- Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintain the AP, Payroll, and AR general ledger entries and performing reconciliations.
- Summarize financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other documents.
- Manage the payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable process.
- Work with and liaise with external auditors.
- Avoid legal challenges by complying with legal requirements.
- Secure financial information by completing database backups.
- Protect the organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
- Carry out other accounting duties as may be required.
What we are looking for:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a similar major is required.
- A certification such as CMA or CPA will be a bonus.
- 6+ years' experience of working in Payroll, Accounting and Finance.
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong practical experience with accounting software packages٫, such as QuickBooks is a MUST, and have done payroll and AP as well as working knowledge of ADP is a MUST.
- Understanding of financial accounting statements and business trends
- Good understanding of MS Office٫ especially Excel.
