SUMMARY:
Exciting opportunity to lead a growing Finance department for a well-established healthcare organization. The CFO will be responsible for all strategic and tactical matters relating to financial management, business planning and budgeting, IT services, and facilities administration. Reporting to and working closely with the Executive Director, the CFO will actively participate with the Senior Management Team to drive overall strategy. Serves as a mentor and leader of finance and administration staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership:
- Collaborates with senior leadership in developing and executing organizational Strategic Plan.
- Works closely with the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors to set financial oversight policies and overall fiscal direction for the organization.
- Works closely with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) to align short-term and long-term financial needs of the organization with opportunities for financial support.
- Leads senior management team in performance improvement activities that maximize sources of funding and manage costs effectively.
- Provides support to the Executive Director for all operational and strategic issues as they arise; provides strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and projections, cost allocations, and program revenue/expenses analysis.
- Represents the organization with various stakeholders as it relates to financial management, in coalitions and with government entities related to claims, grants and contracts.
Program Management:
- Manages 3rd party revenue cycle, collaborating with direct service staff to support practice improvements to maximize potential revenue.
- Manages billing company contract to ensure strong revenue, analytics, and support for operational cash flow.
- Oversees grants and contracts budget management, and accounting.
- Reviews and approves monthly financial statements and prepares all financial reporting materials and metrics for submission to Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Plans for and leads budgeting and financial forecasting processes in alignment with the strategic plan.
- Manages and mentors staff to support financial and administrative support functions within the organization.
- Manages cash flow and forecasting and directs all financial, program-related, and departmental accounting.
- Oversees the Director of Operations and ensures well-functioning facilities and IT systems so that staff has adequate support to provide efficient and effective program services.
- Supervises finance department staff, managing through well-functioning systems, and maintains strong administrative team.
Administrative Oversight:
- Ensures adherence to and compliance with all federal, state, and local law requirements.
- Coordinates and leads preparation for annual financial audit and 5500/403b audit.
- Manages auditor relationship, collaborating with Board Finance Committee to ensure compliance with financial management standards.
- Coordinates and leads cost reporting for Medicaid and Medicare, and IDC.
- Ensures adequate controls are implemented and operating and that the organization’s risk is minimized.
- Ensures the finance staff maintains financial record systems in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and monitors the use of all funds.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- CPA Preferred
- 5+ years of managerial experience, with a demonstrated record of increasing responsibilities
- 10+ years of experience in nonprofit accounting and grants management required.
- Clinical financial management experience required.
- Knowledge of Nonprofit GAAP, A-133 audits, continuous performance improvement practices, accounting and systems software required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Effective clear and open communicator.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, team management and good interpersonal skills.
- Analytical and adept at problem solving through collaboration with others.
- Experience in relating with and negotiating with third parties.
- Experience driving strategy development and innovation to improve financial performance.
- Experience building financial models and performing analysis, as well as directing the same.
- Understanding of leading technology to support financial accounting, planning and reporting.
