Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a federal government contractor who is seeking a Project Accountant with expertise in government billing and Deltek Costpoint to join their team.
Title: Project Accountant
Location: Hybrid - Laurel, MD
Key Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of government project accounting, including contract setup, billing, and financial reporting.
Prepare, review, and submit invoices to government agencies in compliance with FAR, CAS, and other applicable regulations.
Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate project setup, cost tracking, and revenue recognition.
Perform cost analysis, monitor budgets, and provide regular financial updates to stakeholders.
Reconcile accounts, prepare journal entries, and ensure the accuracy of project financials in Costpoint.
Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Stay up-to-date with changes in government regulations and billing practices to ensure compliance.
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes as they relate to projects.
Required:
3+ years of experience in project accounting with a focus on government contracts.
Strong proficiency with Deltek Costpoint.
In-depth knowledge of FAR, CAS, and government billing regulations.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
Experience with time and materials (T&M), cost-plus, and fixed-price contracts.
Familiarity with DCAA audit processes.
