Job Summary:
The Accounts Receivable (AR) Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing all accounts receivable functions. This role includes processing and monitoring incoming payments, ensuring the timely collection of outstanding debts, and accurately maintaining financial records related to receivables. The AR Accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring strong cash flow management and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process accounts receivable transactions and monitor incoming payments.
- Maintain and update customer account records, ensuring accurate and timely entry of invoices, payments, and adjustments.
- Reconcile accounts receivable balances and resolve discrepancies with customers and internal teams.
- Prepare monthly AR aging reports and analyze outstanding balances.
- Monitor customer accounts to identify overdue payments and implement collection strategies.
- Communicate with customers regarding payment inquiries, disputes, and account statements.
- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve billing issues.
- Prepare financial reports related to AR for management review.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring accuracy of AR accounts.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting regulations.
- Support the external and internal audit processes by providing relevant documentation and explanations.
- Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance AR efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in accounts receivable or a similar accounting role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and AR processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to manage customer relationships effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
