Title: Interim Controller Location: Hybrid – 2 days: Tues and Thurs in office in Washington, DC Hourly Rate: $55.00 - $66.00/hour Job Type: Contract (2+ months)
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will oversee the full range of accounting functions, and play a key role in ensuring the financial health and growth of our client. This is a hands-on role, ideal for a proactive and results-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment. You will work closely with a small offshore accounting support team, ensuring efficient collaboration to drive company-wide alignment on accounting and financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Produce timely and accurate financial reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual) in compliance with GAAP.
Report on cash flow and monitor financial KPIs.
Maintain internal controls and financial policies to ensure compliance and data integrity.
Partner with other departments to drive financial and operational goals.
Coordinate with the offshore accounting support team.
About You:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field (CPA preferred).
7+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, and operations management, ideally in startup environments.
Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
Proficient with financial management software (the company uses QuickBooks).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to build relationships across all organizational levels.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
